Storm Dancer by Rayne Hall

Dahoud is a troubled hero with a dark past. As a siege commander, he once razed, raped and killed... and he enjoyed it. Now he needs to atone.
He has sacrificed everything to build a new identity and a life of peace, and he devotes himself to protecting women from harm.
But Dahoud is not alone. Inside him lives a devious demon, a djinn that demands he subdue women with force. It torments him with pains and tempts him with forbidden desires.
When the women in Dahoud's life repay his kindness with betrayal, his hard-won control over the djinn breaks.
Would you dare an alliance with this man? Could you forgive his evil past? Could you trust him with your life, with your freedom, with your love?

My Opinion
It's my secret love....Dark fantasy!!!
A rich plot set in a dark desert type world. corrupted in MANY, MANY ways.  The characters are far from the run of the mill, happy go lucky you'd find in most books.
Rape....Torture....Definitely  NOT a bedtime story.
Dahoud is trying to fight his demon....literally! He has a demon inside him. He is not a nice guy....woman fear for their lives when around him. Although he is the "Dark Hero" of this book....this hero is far from the norm.
Merida, is a magician, naive and at times annoying. Sometimes I wondered why she did the things she did.
Oh and enough with Riverland!!! We get it.....it's soooooo much better than everywhere else!!!
Dahoud and Merida...OMG they have issues. Trust is the major one...Heaven forbid they stop fighting when the two travel together. They get over it, which was refreshing. Since they have to work together.
I really enjoyed reading this story. It wasn't something that you could guess the ending at the middle of the book....you actually were left fulfilled when this story ended. There was a reason to be on the edge of your seat.
I will go on to say.....This is NOT an under 18 years old book. Some of the scenes are graphic and may scar younger readers.
However, that should no way put off any adult from reading this book....It WILL keep you turning the pages wanting to see what happens next.
